Tauranga Crossing partners with Toi Ohomai
Tauranga Crossing invests in the Bay’s future through new scholarship programme
Partnership with Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology will support local students through four scholarships in 2026/2027
Tauranga Crossing is investing in the next generation of Bay of Plenty talent through the launch of a new scholarship programme in partnership with Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology.
The Tauranga Crossing-funded scholarship programme will provide $20,000 in scholarships to local students pursuing tertiary study, reinforcing the centre’s long-standing commitment to supporting the Bay of Plenty community.
The scholarship fund will provide four individual scholarships worth $5,000 each. The first two scholarships will be awarded for semester two 2026, with a further two scholarships available for students commencing study in early 2027.
The programme marks the next evolution of Tauranga Crossing’s successful Local Legends initiative, shifting from recognising community champions to actively supporting future leaders through education.
As Tauranga Crossing approaches its tenth anniversary since it opened later this year, this scholarship programme reflects the centre’s ongoing investment in the region and its people.
“For nearly a decade, we have championed the people who make our community stronger,” says Janet Vincent, Centre Manager at Tauranga Crossing.
“Through our partnership with Toi Ohomai, Tauranga Crossing is proud to fully fund these scholarships, helping ensure local students can pursue their ambitions without financial barriers standing in the way.”
With the rising cost of tertiary education, many students face increasing financial pressures. The Tauranga Crossing Scholarship is designed to help ease those pressures, enabling recipients to focus on their studies and future career aspirations.
“Education transforms lives and shapes our region’s future,” says Tom Worsp, Marketing and Creative Manager at Toi Ohomai
“The Tauranga Crossing scholarships are an investment in local talent, and we are delighted to partner with the Bay of Plenty’s premier shopping, dining and lifestyle destination, which shares our commitment to creating opportunities and pathways for learners across the region.”
The scholarships are fully funded by Tauranga Crossing and administered in partnership with Toi Ohomai Institute of Technology.
Applications are now open for the first two scholarships for the semester 2, 2026 intake and close on 5 July 2026. Recipients will be announced on 20 July 2026.
